Through huge periods of Britain's history, wool was considered highly valuable. Sadly, that's no longer true, and many farmers dispose of wool for less than it costs them to shear it. We are determined that such a lovely natural product shouldn't go to waste, so we create products to sell, which just aim to cover their costs, not to make a profit.
Our products are seasonal. So, we get wool back from the mill when the mill has processed it - which can vary! Sheepskins are usually available in the spring. Calendars are available in the Autumn, and keyrings all year around.
We are happy to take reservations. To keep our costs down, everything is sold via our Etsy shop, but we are also happy to liaise over direct orders. Just drop us a message.
When our sheep are sheared in the spring, we carefully sort the wool by hand to remove straw and dirt, and sort into the distinctive Jacob colours. We then sent it off to be processed at English wool mills. We use the local mill Diamond Fibres in East Susex and Rampisham Hill Mill in Dorset to produce high quality worsted and semi-worsted wool, of Aran weight.
Our sheep are lovely characters - and we want to share the love! So we have keyrings with different sheep, and every year produce a desk calendar and wall calendar of our sheep. We will start taking orders for calendars in October, and key rings are available all year.
When we can, we also produces fleeces - usually in the Spring when our boys leave us. Fleeces are expensive to produce so we only produce them if we think there is demand!
We aren't knitters, but if you are - fancy making hats, scarves or something else from our yarn and selling them here, on a cost/ profit share basis? Get in touch!
